Tuesday morning the San Diego County Sheriff's Department had crews searching for a man who armed a 7-Eleven at gunpoint.

It happened at 2 a.m. on the 1400-block of Jamacha Road in El Cajon and authorities arrived when the panic alarm went off.

The suspect was wearing a shiny, red mask and also had what appeared to be a sub machine gun of some sort, said police.

Initially the Sheriff's Department had a helicopter and K-9 units searching for the suspect, then they began a ground search in nearby woods and other locations.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police.
