App Maker Evernote to Set Up Engineering Office in San Diego

Popular app maker Evernote is opening an engineering office in San Diego.

In a recent blog post, the company said the local office will start with a team of seven people, but plans to hire additional engineers with time.

Redwood City-based Evernote, which makes an app for taking notes, has several regional offices, including space in Austin, Texas, China, India, and Brazil. The tech company has already hired 35 new engineers this year as it prepares for multiple product launches in 2017, and San Diego is the firm’s latest outpost.

β€œWe are very fortunate to have quickly built a team in San Diego to help continue the development work we’ve been doing around the world across our product portfolio,” said Seth Hitchings, vice president of engineering at Evernote. β€œSan Diego has proven to be a great location to expand our expertise with a deep pool of talented engineers to work together with our core global team as we work toward a very exciting 2017.”

Evernote joins several other Bay Area tech companies that have opened regional offices in San Diego, including Google and action video camera maker GoPro.

Evernote could not be reached at the time of press to confirm where the new office is located.
