Ambulance Collides With Trolley in Downtown San Diego

An ambulance en route to an emergency collided Friday with a San Diego trolley downtown.

The collision happened at approximately 5:30 a.m. at Fourth Avenue and C Street just west of the 5th Avenue Station.

San Diego Police responded to the incident and told NBC 7 the ambulance was headed to a call with no patient in the back of the vehicle. The ambulance driver had lights and sirens on, according to police.

The driver of the ambulance looked up and didn’t see a trolley coming along the tracks, investigators said. However, when the driver looked again, the trolley was there.

One person on the trolley complained of pain. No one was taken to a hospital.
