2-Year-Old Girl in Amber Alert Found Safe: Police

An Amber Alert issued for a 2-year-old girl believed to have been abducted from the Los Angeles area by her father was canceled Wednesday night after police found her safe, officials said.

The alert was issued for Lanees Issa after her father allegedly took her at gunpoint during an afternoon supervised visit by DCFS.

Her father, Louai Issa, was believed to be armed and dangerous. Investigators said her mother may have also been involved in the abduction.

Police said the girl and her parents were stopped by officers in the LAPD's Rampart area. There were no immediate reports of injuries. No further details were provided.

Lanees Issa was removed from her parents' custody because of previous drug issues that led to neglect, according to police. Typically, the supervised visits have included both the child's mother and father. Because the mother was not present, police believe the abduction was an "orchestrated event" and that she may have been involved.

The pair were believed to be in the Southern California area and were last seen traveling in a silver Honda CRV with a partial California license plate of W122 around 2:05 p.m.

Anyone with information was asked to contact LAPD at 213-484-6700.
