Alpine Home Gutted by Fire

The home was tucked away into the foothills along Homeward Way in Alpine

Firefighters maneuvered along a narrow road to reach a fire that ultimately gutted an Alpine home early Monday.

The home was tucked away into the foothills along Homeward Way.

Heartland firefighters arrived just after they were called around 2 a.m. and found a home fully engulfed in flames and smoke.

No one was in the home at the time. Some animals were on the property but were not injured in the blaze, officials said.

Firefighters had to use long lines of fire hose to make it down the narrow entry road to the home.

Once they were able to get water on the fire, they were able to knock the fire down by 3 a.m.

Crews were still on the scene four hours later, mopping up.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
