Agent Accused in Kidnapping, Sex Crimes

Riverside County sheriff's deputies have arrested a U.S. Border Patrol officer on suspicion he used his authority to commit a sexual assault.

The sheriff's department says 41-year-old Luis Edward Hermosillo was arrested Friday on charges of kidnapping with intent to commit sexual assault, sexual penetration and sexual penetration under the color of authority.

He was being held in the Riverside County Jail in Indio in lieu of $1 million bail.

Hermosillo is assigned to the Border Patrol's Indio sector.

Details of the incident have not been released but the sheriff's department says Hermosillo is suspected of assaulting a 26-year-old woman on June 13.
