To celebrate the new 99 Cent Store's grand opening in San Marcos, the store was offering up quite a steal. Hopeful customers lined up outside the store to be the first in line.

“It’s worth it,” said Matt Roberts who has spent the last two nights camping out on the sidewalk in front on the new 99 Cent Store at 155 South Rancho Santa Fe Road.  Roberts was first in line to buy an 8 gigabyte iPod nano for just 99 cents.

To help promote the store’s grand opening Thursday, the first 9 customers will get to purchase the 99 cent iPod.   By 4 a.m. Thursday morning, dozens of people had lined up for the deal, most of them spent the night in front of the store. There are other bargains for those who didn’t get an ipod.  A limited supply of scooters, a coffee-table style book of the art of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean movie or a computer mouse will all go on sale for just 99 cents.

An hour before the doors opened at 8 a.m., the line of customers grew out of the parking lot, stretching along the sidewalk on Rancho Santa Fe Road.  More than 100 people waited to cash in on the deals.

The 99 cent iPod nano is valued at about $150.
