A 91-year-old man out on his daily walk was beaten and robbed Saturday morning in Kearny Mesa, the San Diego Police Department confirmed.

The violent incident happened around 7:45 a.m. in the 4100 block of Dellwood Street.

Police say the elderly man was out taking his daily walk when an unknown man approached him from behind and pushed the victim to the ground.

The suspect struck the elderly man several times with his fists on the head and body. He then stole the victim’s wallet from his pocket and fled the scene.

Police say the victim suffered a laceration to the head and back pain. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is expected to recover.

The suspect remains at large. Investigators describe him as 6-feet-tall with a bald or shaved head. He was wearing a light blue shirt and jeans. Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact the San Diego Police Department.
