9-Month-Old Baby's Suspicious Death Under Investigation

The infant died as a result of blunt force trauma to his head

Detectives are investigating the suspicious death of a 9-month-old baby boy who died Thursday after sustaining blunt force trauma to his head.

According to officials from the San Diego Police Department Homicide Unit, the fatally injured infant was taken to Rady Children’s Hospital Thursday around 7 p.m. Due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding the child’s injuries, police were called to the hospital.

The baby boy died as a result of his head injuries.

Detectives say a preliminary investigation reveals the infant was injured while at his home in San Diego's Teralta East area. Officials are now in the process of interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence to determine how the child became fatally injured.

The baby boy’s name has not been released, pending additional family notifications. Police have not yet named a suspect in his death.
