$7M Winning Lottery Ticket Sold at San Marcos Liquor Store

One person will start 2016 a whole lot richer, thanks to a winning $7 million lottery ticket.

That lucky ticket, a Super Lotto Plus, was purchased at Nordahl Liquor in San Marcos on Christmas Eve.

The winner – who has not yet come forward – can collect a lump sum of $4.6 million after taxes or opt for payments over 30 years.

But the identity of the new millionaire remains a mystery.

Many customers of Nordahl Liquor trickled in on New Year’s Eve evening, hoping lady luck would strike at the store again.

Liquor store owner Steve Kaspolis said he received news of the winning ticket on Wednesday evening.

For selling the winning ticket, Kaspolis will pocket $35,000 -- just in time, has he and his wife are expecting a new baby.

He said he'll likely spend the money on the new baby, a little for himself and also donate some to his church.

And a gift for his wife?

"We'll see. Keep it a surprise," he said.

The winner of the $7 million ticket has 180 days to claim the money.
