A 61-year old man died after entering the water on Sunday near Sunset Cliffs, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
The incident happened at approximately 1 p.m. near Sunset Cliffs Boulevard and Monaco Street.
AbelkHalek Boutayeb had been fishing near Luscomb's Point when witnesses say he climbed down the cliffs and entered the water.
Boutayeb began struggling in the water and struck his head against the reef.
A witness jumped in to help him and found Boutayeb face down in the water. Officials did perform CPR but Boutayeb was declared dead at the scene.
According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Officer, Boutayeb's death was an accident.
