328 Customers Without Power in SD

831 customers were affected in all

The number of San Diego Gas and Electric customers without power Sunday was downgraded to just 328 in the San Diego area.

Earlier in the day, at 12:41 p.m., a report on the SDG&E website had nearly 600 customers without power and another 228 customers affected in the Orange County area.

As of 2:45 p.m., affected communities had their restoration extended.

SDG&E officials reported 288 Customers in Center City, Balboa Park and Golden Hills were without service after an outage began at 12:41 p.m. An initial estimate on the SDG&E website said power should be returned at 5.pm. An earlier report said the outage affected 545 customers and they were to regain power at 1:41 p.m.

The cause of the outage was attributed to  overhead electrical lines or equipment.

No status change was made in the San Clemente and Talega as of 2:45 p.m.,  where 228 customers were still without power since about 9 a.m. Power should be restored to those customers at 6 p.m., officials said.

At 6:30 a.m., officials reported the power was down for 40 customers in the area of Old Town, Mission Hills and Hillcrest and that they should regain service by 6 p.m.

Both outages were being blamed on a combination of factors concerning the underground electrical cable or equipment, according to the SDG&E website.

The outages come days after a region-wide blackout that city officials, locals and businesses into the dark for a few hours on Thursday afternoon into Friday.
