Brush Fire Burning South of the Border Grows to 120 Acres

A vegetation fire burning along the Mexican border south of Bell Valley near Potrero has increased to 120 acres, Cal Fire confirmed Sunday afternoon around 3:30 p.m.

Firefighters are currently holding the fire south of the border and will remain at scene throughout the evening.

Cal Fire and San Diego County Fire had approximately 100 personnel, 12 engines, 4 water tenders and 4 hand crews at the scene Saturday.

Crews left two engines at the border overnight to make sure the fire remained entirely in Mexico.

Cal Fire confirmed they will leave three engines at the scene though Sunday to keep the fire from crossing the border.
