56-Year-Old Motorcyclist Stuck by Truck, Killed in Olde Hwy 80 Crash

Due to the massive trauma, the rider of the motorcycle succumbed to his injuries

A 56-year-old motorcyclist died after colliding into a truck on State Route 79 Monday near Descanso, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP reported that a 21-year-old man from Temecula was driving a Chevrolet Silverado on SR-79 southbound approaching Olde Hwy 80 when he stopped at a stop sign at around 4:25 a.m.

At the same time, the 56-year-old was riding a Suzuki motorcycle westbound on Olde Hwy 80.

As the motorcyclist proceeded westbound, the driver of the Silverado entered the intersection to make a left turn, striking the 56-year-old, CHP said.

According to CHP, the 21-year-old violated the motorcyclist’s right of way.

Due to the Suzuki and Silverado’s close proximity, the rider attempted to avoid the collision by laying the motorcycle onto its side, CHP said. The 56-year-old man struck the roadway and was then hit by the left side of the Silverado.

Due to the massive trauma, the rider of the motorcycle succumbed to his injuries on scene.

Drugs or alcohol were not suspected to be a factor in this collision. The Temecula man remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

The motorcyclist’s identity will be released once the Medical Examiner’s office has notified the family.

CHP said the 56-year-old was from Guatay.
