Albertsons and Vons are opening five stores in San Diego County that were once Haggen locations, officials announced Tuesday.
The five stores are among 14 across Southern California that will soon become either Albertsons or Vons stores.
An Albertsons in Rancho Bernardo, at 12475 Rancho Bernardo Road, already opened last week.
Another Albertsons location at 1608 Broadway St. in El Cajon is opening Wednesday, as is a Vons location at 5630 Lake Murray Blvd. in La Mesa.
Next week, a second Vons is opening at 671 Rancho Santa Fe in San Marcos.
The grand opening of a Highland Village store has not yet been announced.
After an ambitious business expansion gone wrong, Haggen announced in September that it was closing dozens of stores in San Diego County and departing from California altogether.

The departure left a number of store locations up for grabs, and Albertsons, Vons and Smart & Final were among the chains that took over the locations.
