$41M in Marijuana Found in SD Field

35 officers required to seize plants in remote area of Warner Springs

Officers in the North County seized about $41 million in marijuana from a remote field over the weekend.

On Saturday and Sunday, about 35 officers responded to a search warrant to the field in the unincorporated area of Warner Springs, according to a statement from the U.S. Department of Justice.

The 40-acre field contained about 41,000 marijuana plants, watered by two large tanks on the property.

A semi-automatic gun was resting just below one of the tanks, but no one was present at the time of the raid.

Over the course of two days, officers dismantled the field, located on private property in the area known as Sunshine Summit.

An investigation into the operation is ongoing, but no arrests have been made yet.
