65 DUI Arrests, 3 Deaths Over Labor Day Weekend: CHP

Compared to last year, DUI arrests and deaths were down in SD County

    Over the 2013 Labor Day weekend, California Highway Patrol officials reported three deaths and 65 arrests linked to drunk driving across San Diego County.

    Across the county, the DUI stats were down from Labor Day weekend last year when 69 DUI arrests were made and two deaths were reported, according to Officer Robert Catano of the CHP.

    Statewide, 1,213 DUI arrests were made by CHP officers and 49 fatalities were reported.

    In 2012, there were 1,363 DUI arrests and 35 fatalities during the same period in California.

    The CHP report is based on information gathered from 6:01 p.m. Friday to 11:59 p.m. Monday.
