Camper Hits Transformer, Causes Power Outage in Alpine

Hundreds of residents in Alpine were left in the dark Friday night when a camper hit eight parked cars and a transformer in the community, causing a power outagte.

California Highway Patrol officials said the crash happened at around 8:40 p.m. in the 2600 block of Alpine Boulevard. Initially, 275 customers were impacted by the outage.

As of 9:10 a.m. Saturday, about 75 customers remained without power, according to San Diego Gas & Electric. Power is expected to be fully restored to those residents by 10 a.m.
