23-Year-Old Marine Dies After Motorcycle Accident

A man killed in a motorcycle accident on Interstate 5 in Solana Beach on Friday was identified as an 23-year-old active duty marine on Sunday.

Kyle Joseph Mason died after the motorcycle he was riding struck a flatbed truck, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Mason was reportedly traveling south on interstate route 5, north of Lomas Sante Fe Drive, just before 8:30 p.m. 

911 was called and Mason was then transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla where he died shortly after arrival.

Mason was a resident of San Clemente, according to the ME's office.

CHP are investigating the crash.
