A 3-year-old was killed Friday after being being hit by car.
The boy was walking with his 12-year-old brother in the 6750 block of Mardone Avenue in the Skyline neighborhood of San Diego, looking for their dog, when, police said, he was struck around noon by a car driven by a 19-year-old.
Police said the man behind the wheel of the green Toyota Corrola told them he thought he had hit a speed bump. At first, police did not take him into custody, but they later said they they were taking him for questioning, because, investigators said, witness statements, as well as statements from his mother, conflicted.
The child suffered traumatic injuries and was taken to Children's Hospital, where he later died.
