2 Suspects Wanted in Emerald Hills Shooting

Police are looking for two suspects after one opened fire on a man and woman in Emerald Hills Wednesday night.

San Diego Police Sgt. Elias Estrada said at about 9:30 p.m., officers received reports of gunshots in the 5400 block of Geneva Street.

When they arrived, they found a 38-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. They also saw a silver Mercedes-Benz in the middle of the road with bullet holes and casings around it.

Estrada said before the shooting, a vehicle drove by the victim as he stood by the Mercedes, where a woman sat.

The vehicle turned from Geneva Street onto Hanover Street and disappeared from view. But just seconds later, two men emerged on foot at the intersection.

One raised a gun and started shooting at the man and woman. The man was hit, and the woman, out of panic and fear, accelerated the car. She ended up on the middle of Geneva Street, uninjured.

The suspects are described as dark-skinned men, one of whom may have dreadlocks. The car they were in is described as a silver Honda Accord, possibly 2005 model, according to Estrada.

The victim was taken to the hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries.

Estrada said it is too early to say if this was a random shooting. The incident is under investigation.
