2 Injured, 1 Missing After El Cajon Crash

Two people were injured and one fled the scene after a car missed a sharp turn on an East County road and crashed just a few feet from a home.

Skid marks can be seen leading up to a curb on Rancho Canada in El Cajon.

Around 1 a.m. Thursday, a car carrying three people tried to make a sharp right turn on the road while driving at a high rate of speed, according to law enforcement officers.

The car crashed into some rocks, injuring the two people riding in the front of the car.

Neighbors told officials the rear passenger got out of the vehicle and fled the scene.

Firefighters say the drivers-side airbag undoubtedly saved the life of the person behind the wheel given the amount of damage to the car.

The situation could have been much worse if the car had crashed into the home.

Residents inside the home were there at the time of the crash. They say they put these rocks and fence out front just for this reason.
