Two dog owners were detained in a Santee neighborhood Saturday after a dog was shot to death, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department confirmed.
The incident happened around 3:10 p.m. on Strathmore Drive near the east side of Santee Lakes.
Deputies say a man and woman shot their own dog -- a yellow lab -- because the dog had been behaving aggressively all week.
Deputies say the couple is from Texas. They were not charged with anything, officials said, just detained for questioning and given a warning.
