Fire Crews Battling 6-Acre Brush Fire Near Dulzura; Forward Rate of Spread Stopped

Cal Fire crews say the forward rate of spread of a 6-acre brush fire off Highway 94 has been stopped, just east of Barrett Lake Road in East San Diego County.

The Barrett Fire broke out around 1:05 p.m. in Dulzura, just seven miles from Potrero, the site of the raging Border Fire.

The fire first started as 2 acres, but Cal Fire officials reported it had grown to 10 acres by 1:45 p.m. Fifteen engines, an aircraft and a hand crew responded.

SR-94 traffic is restricted to one-way traffic from Summit Rd to Lake Barrett Road due to a brush fire.

It is unclear how fast the so-called Barrett Fire is spreading. There is no report on containment, but it has not grown since 1 p.m.

Due to an equiptment error Cal Fire incorrectly reported the acerage at 27 instead of 6, Cal Fire explained in a Tweet.

No other information was immediately available.
