Drug Lord's Daughter Charged in SD Court

Pleads not guilty to immigration charges

The daughter of one of the world’s most notorious drug lords appeared in a San Diego courtroom Thursday and pleaded not guilty to immigration charges.

Alejandrina Gisselle Guzman Salazar was arrested earlier this month at the San Ysidro port of entry and charged with fraud and misuse of visas, permits and other documents.

She told officials she was the daughter of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, the leader of Mexico’s Sinaloa cartel.

Guzman Salazar was arraigned in court Thursday. She is charged with six counts of fraud and misuse of visas and making false statements to federal officers.

Court documents state Guzman Salazar attempted to enter U.S. with a Mexican passport on foot with a U.S. visa on October 12.
