Fire crews and an SDG&E emergency team responded to the gas line break Saturday evening.

Construction crews ruptured a four-inch gas line in Logan Heights Saturday evening, sending a plume of gas into the air.

The rupture could be heard from Ocean View Ave, where the accident occurred at about 3:45 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire Department.

Authorities said the line was struck with piece of construction equipment during repairs to the road.

San Diego Gas and Electric emergency crews aided the San Diego Fire Department in containing the line.
