Sabrina Keller Died of Natural Causes: Report

Officials say the 14-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest

An autopsy on a 14-year-old girl who collapsed at a school dance at a San Marcos middle school in June found her death was due to a cardiac arrest, the San Diego Medical Examiner reported Friday.

Sabrina Keller, of Escondido, collapsed and became unresponsive while at a graduation dance at Woodland Park Middle school around 9 p.m. on June 9.

She was later taken to Rady Children's Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The autopsy reported Keller’s cause of death was due to cardiac arrest stemming from “probable cardiac channelopathy” congenital long QT syndrome, a disorder of the heart's electrical activity which can cause sudden, uncontrollable and dangerous arrhythmias.

A month before her death, Keller won an award for selling the most Girl Scout cookies in San Diego County and a special garden was planted by Keller’s scout troop in honor of her in October.
