A man was shot in the head in his Lakeside apartment early Wednesday morning.

The man was in his living room on 12709 Mapleview St. when the shooting occurred, according to the San Diego Sheriff’s Office.

A next door neighbor said he heard wrestling sounds but didn't think much of it.

"I heard thing you usually hear in a scuffle, things being moved around, things getting hit against the wall and next thing I knew there were six or seven Sheriff's with their guns drawn, telling everybody to come out of the house with their hands up," the neighbor said.

Deputies say the suspect was able to get away before they arrived.

Deputies describe the outstanding suspect as a man approximately 5' 10" with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a black T-shirt that said “Deny Everything” and black shorts. He had tattoos on both arms.

No word on the victim's status, but neighbors say the man was able to stand on his own feet when he left the apartment.
