Motorists should expect a detour heading north on Interstate 805 Thursday night.
The freeway will be closed at Mira Mesa Blvd. and Sorrento Valley Rd. starting at 11:30 Thursday night and will reopen at 5 a.m. Friday, according to a Caltrans statement.
The detour will start at the Mira Mesa Blvd. exit and will lead drivers to northbound Interstate 5 from Carmel Mountain Rd.
The closure is due to a $90.3 million construction project that will extend Carroll Canyon Rd. under I-805.
The project will also build an HOV lane in each direction along the freeway to and from I-5 to Carroll Canyon Rd. and will be completed by early 2013.
