Vehicle Crashes into 2 Houses, Hydrant

Driver injured after losing control in Chula Vista

A driver lost control of the wheel in a Chula Vista neighborhood, driving into two houses and a fire hydrant.

The collision occurred at about 11 a.m. on East J St. and Lori Ln, according to authorities with the Chula Vista Police Department.

Police said the driver of the car was diabetic, and they believe his medical condition may have been a factor in the accident.

The driver first lost control as he was turning right onto Lori Ln. He hit the first house, switched to reverse and then ran over the fence and tree of the second house. He also hit a fire hydrant, which caused a large geyser to erupt.

He was transported in an ambulance shortly after the accident. Police did not say whether anyone else was injured, or the extent of the damage to the homes.

A resident of one of the houses was sleeping when the car crashed into her house. She said she heard a loud bang and thought someone had broken into her house.
