120 Pot Plants Seized From Chula Vista Business

Police arrest 26-year-old men in connection to illegal marijuana growing operation

A pair of 26-year-old men were taken into custody Friday in connection with an illegal marijuana growing operation where 120 plants were seized, according to Chula Vista police.

Spring Valley resident, Steven Abbott, and Joseph Aon, of Jamul, were arrested as they left a business located in Suite H of 1031 Bay Blvd, according to CVPD Lt. Lon Turner.

The two men were arrested after The CVPD Narcotic Enforcement Team conducted surveillance on the building after receiving a tip that a growing operation might have been occurring there, said Turner.

When detectives conducted a probation compliance check on the business they discovered about 120 mature marijuana plants, according to Turner.

Abbott was arrested for suspicion of cultivation of marijuana. Aon, who was on probation at the time of his arrest, faces charges for felony marijuana cultivation.

Both men were booked into the San Diego Central Jail at about 5:20 a.m.

They were scheduled to be arraigned at the South Division Court in Chula Vista at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to jail records.
