$10K to Catch “Racist” Vandals: Cops

A $10,000 reward is being offered to help catch whoever sprayed racist graffiti, set fire to two city vehicles, two buildings and shoved dirt into a city vehicle's gas tank, Vista deputies said.

The vandalism started on August 19 when a suspect got into a fenced yard, that belongs to the City of Vista, at Buena Vista Park and spray painted "hate/racist" type graffiti on city vehicles and building and shoved dirt into a city vehicle's gas tank, according to deputy Adriana Uribe.

Then on August 20 at about 11.00 p.m. the Vista Fire Department responded to a fire at the same fenced yard at the park. Two vehicles and part of an out building were engulfed in flames.

“The same type of hate/racist graffiti was discovered on a building inside the yard,” Uribe said.

The fire was determined to be arson and caused about $50,000 worth of damage.

The agency is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
