A fire burning east of Julian was expected to be contained Thursday after scorching at least 100 acres, fire officials said.

Hundreds of firefighters are battling the Narrow Fire burning near highway 78 and S2, about 10 miles northeast of Julian towards Ocotillo Wells, according to fire officials.

As of 7 a.m. Thursday, the fire is 60 percent contained according to Cal-Fire spokesperson Mike Mohler. Fire crews expect full containment by noon.

400 firefighters jumped on the fire from the ground Wednesday afternoon while two tankers and two helicopters made drops until sundown.
