A brain aneurysm killed a former San Diego resident on her wedding day in California.

Amy Lynn Slenk, 26, died May 25, the day she married longtime boyfriend Cole Handley in a Soledad, Calif., vineyard.

Diane Slenk of Ottawa County's Holland Township in Michigan told the Holland Sentinel newspaper her daughter was enjoying "the happiest day of her life" when she collapsed at her wedding reception.

“I know they were very excited about starting their lives together and starting a family,” Slenk told the Michigan paper on Wednesday.

She said doctors in California told her that her daughter's medical condition was a pre-existing aneurysm that could have erupted at any time.

Amy Lynn Slenk moved to the West Coast to pursue international studies and Japanese at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore.
