At one point, the widow of the victim spoke directly to the man responsible for her husband's death.

A drunk driver who hit and killed a bicyclist and then left the scene is going to prison.

There was a lot of support Thursday for both the victim and the man being sentenced. At one point, the widow of the victim spoke directly to the man responsible for her husband's death.

"There are days I don't even want to get out of bed at all," Kristine Costa said to the convicted killer. "My life will never be the same because of you."

30-year-old Eddie Costa, father of two, was riding his bike in Alpine last December. Travis Weber was driving the truck that left the scene after hitting Costa.

"It breaks my heart to visualize you running him over and leaving him there laying there in the street alone to die," Costa said.

Weber was arrested two days later when he just happened to park that truck outside a bar across the street from a candle light vigil for his victim. He later pleaded guilty to driving drunk.

"I apologize to your family," Weber said Thursday.

The judge sentenced him to 11 years in prison. Outside the courtroom, Costa's widow reacted to the sentence.

"I don't think it's adequate.  I can't change it," Costa said.

Weber's family did not want to talk, but the widow, who lost her husband, knows both families are hurting.

"I hope you understand and comprehend the heartache and pain you caused my family as well as your own," she said.

Before handing out the sentence, the judge explained he was denying a request to give Weber probation. Court documents show Travis Weber does have a history of drunk driving.
