A woman visiting San Diego from Oklahoma got confused with her surroundings and drove her rental car into the path of a train.
The 63-year old woman was relying on the rental car's GPS to drive to her son's house Wednesday night.
The GPS instructed her to turn onto the railway crossing at Kettner and Sassafras Street.
The woman thought it was a street, because the roadway was wet and it was dark, according to San Diego Sheriff’s Deputies. .
That’s when her car got stuck on the gravel, deputies said.
The woman said when she heard the sound of an oncoming train and got out and escaped injuries.
Can’t say the same about the rental car. It sustained major damages after being hit by the train.
