It may not be cheap, but it's an up-close and personal way to see some of the animals at the San Diego Zoo. For the first time, the zoo is offering a Backstage Pass VIP Tour.

It's a two-hour experience -- you get lunch while you watch a private show featuring some of the zoo's animals, including a baby cheetah and her dog friend.

It all takes place in a newly remodeled spot where the old elephant exhibit used to be, before its recent move.

You also get to interact with some of the animals. Wednesday, visitors fed kangaroos and rhinos. The rhinos also get a special scratching from their visitors. Visitors got to learn about positive reinforcement training.

"It's opportune listening ... choose to do it, choose not to and see what happens -- all positive reinforcement, all successful training," said Rick Schwartz of the San Diego Zoo.

You do have to be at least 8 years old to participate. The VIP tour is pretty expensive -- $100 per person -- but it does get you reserved seating at several shows and priority loading on bus tours, not to mention it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
