Mexican authorities are searching for a plane that crashed in the mountains near Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The plane crashed on Saturday, hours after it left a San Diego airport.
The 1968 Beechcraft Baron was registered to a Douglas Baker of Ukiah, CA, according to the FAA website. Baker may have just sold the aircraft, said FAA spokesman Lynn Lunsford.
The plane was headed to Los Cabos en route to Argentina, Lunsford said.
Officials are unsure how many people were aboard the plane when it crashed.
Mexican authorities were able to spot the wreckage from a helicopter, Lunsford said. The Mexican military began hiking to the site on Sunday.
Mexican authorities will handle the offical investigation into the crash.
According to Lunsford, the FAA will only participate if requested by Mexican authorities.
