Five family members -- including two former UCSD graduates -- whose decomposed bodies were found in an Orange County mansion earlier this year died as part of a suicide pact, officials said Wednesday.

Sheriff's department spokesman Jim Amormino said investigators have determined that 58-year old Manas Ucar was shot to death by his wife, who then turned the gun on herself.

Amormino said the couple's twin 21-year old daughters and their grandmother died of prescription drug overdoses.  The twins were found on a bed, their grandmother on a chaise lounge and their parents in a closet, the Los Angeles Times reported.  The daughters, Grace and Margo Ucar, were graduates of San Clemente High School and worked as interns at a psychological clinic in San Diego County the paper said. They earned bachelor's degrees in biology in January at UC San Diego.

He said Ucar had a lethal dose of Vicodin in his system before he was shot.

The bodies of the Turkish-American family were found clad in black clothing in May in a gated community southeast of Los Angeles. Relatives forced their way into the house after not hearing from the family.

Investigators determined that the family last entered the gated community on May 3. Their bodies were discovered May 25, the Los Angeles Times reported.
