Narcissism Epidemic Blamed for Economic Woes
Author blasts Age of Entitlement

A San Diego State psychology professor says narcissism among college students is on the rise "as fast as obesity in the last 25 years."
"Narcissism is absolutely toxic to society," said author Jean Twenge while talking about her book "The Narcissism Epidemic: Living in the Age of Entitlement."
Twenge said the self-centered culture is growing, often caused by parenting, the Internet, celebrity culture and easy credit. She said it is reflected in current society and its problems from everybody from overconfident home buyers to selfish lenders. Twenge said, however, that the current state of the economy may help curb some of the growing narcissism. She said she is already seeing people cutting back on elaborate purchases and glorifying wealth.
