The family has started an Alex & Jayden Drake Fund at the Mission Federal Credit Union. Donations can be made in person or by mail.

Funeral services were held Monday for a Ramona mother who died in an accident on state Route 67 last week.

Alex Drake, 25, died March 29 when a Jaguar crushed her Volvo in a head-on collision. Drake's family and friends gathered Monday at Glen Abbey Cemetery in Ramona to honor her and the many accomplishments she achieved in her young lifetime.

"You left the scene that is ... to run away, knowing ... you only have to look at the car to know you left destruction and devastation behind," Pamela McKeirnan, Drake's mother, told mourners Monday. "You left me so I could not hold my child as she died on the roadside."

Drake's month-old son, Jayden, was inside the car with her and somehow survived the fatal crash. The driver of the Jaguar was racing a white BMW, whose driver has still not been found, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Over the past three years, 19 people have died on the 25-mile stretch of SR-67 that runs between El Cajon and Ramona. Eleven of those deaths were alcohol-related.
