Mom Denies Wrongdoing After Party Bust
Woman arrested while teen party took place in Fallbrook earlier this month at her home

A mother who was arrested this month after a teen party got out of control at her home -- forcing her to drive an extremely intoxicated 17-year-old girl to the hospital -- is disputing her arrest and the county law that governs house parties, according to a published report.
Deborah Gibney, 46, was jailed June 10 on suspicion of violating the county's social host ordinance, child endangerment and obstructing an officer, all in the early morning hours after the party, sheriff's officials told the North County Times. She had been arrested about 3 a.m. at Fallbrook Hospital after she refused to stop and speak with a deputy about the girl she had just dropped off.
Gibney, a mother of three and a well-known volunteer, said she told the deputy that she wanted to return to her Greenacres property. Earlier in the night, she said, dozens of booze-toting teens had swarmed her home, turning what she described as an innocent end-of-the-year celebration into a drunken blowout.
Gibney, the only adult host at the party, said she didn't call the sheriff's department because she doesn't trust Fallbrook's deputies, who she said routinely harass teens. She also repeatedly said that she did not provide any of the alcohol.
"My conscience is clear ---- I did the right thing," Gibney told the paper.
