Millionaire Murder Case in Court

A man accused of killing a La Jolla investor for his own financial gain was in court on Monday.

Kent Keigwin is accused of strangling 65-year-old John Watson inside his La Jolla Shores apartment in June. Keigwin killed Watson so he could transfer $7.5 million from the victim's investment account, according to prosecutors.

During Monday's preliminary hearing, a homicide investigator testified that Keigwin looked nervous when they first talked.

"He started taking quick breaths, his eyes widened," Officer Joseph Hawie told the court.

Keigwin was arrested days after the murder when he showed up at the victim's home. In addition to murder charges, he also faces charges for identity theft and burglary.
