Prosecutors say Ramon Hernandez and two other Marines based at Camp Pendleton killed David Pettigrew in September 2007.

The Marine Corps has charged a Los Angeles County sheriff's detective who served as a reserve colonel at Camp Pendleton with compromising classified documents between 2004 and 2006.

Military officials said Friday the charges against Larry J. Richards also include conspiracy, dereliction of duty, violations of orders and other offenses.

Richards is being recalled to active duty from the Individual Ready Reserve in order to be court-martialed.

When Gunnery Sgt. Eric Froboese pleaded guilty to sharing classified documents earlier this month, he said he was following what he knew were illegal orders from Richards.

Richards was a co-founder of the Los Angeles Terrorism Early Warning Group.
