A man has died after an argument involving an off-duty San Diego County sheriff’s deputy at a mobile home park in El Cajon, according to investigators.
Deputies were called to the Rancho Valley Mobile Home Park around 8 p.m. Sunday.
Investigators say the man has a two-year-old son with a woman who lives at the mobile home park. He was dropping the toddler off after a visit when the woman allegedly confronted him with concerns about his driving, according to deputies.
That triggered a fight and the man pushed the woman into his truck, deputies said.
Her current boyfriend, an off-duty corrections officer, and the woman's younger brother both heard the commotion and got involved.
The altercation ended with the 33-year-old man unresponsive, deputies said. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
“At this point there's nothing to suggest there's anything of a criminal nature that went on, on the part of the brother or the off-duty deputy,” said Lt. Dennis Brugos.
Brugos said it would be up to sheriff's command to determine if the off-duty deputy involved in this fight will be placed on administrative leave.
