Someone has been lifting purses and wallets from several Gaslamp businesses and now police believe they may have a suspect in the crime spree.

San Diego police identified Christopher Glasby, 34, as the man reported to be stealing from area shops and restaurants.

Here's his MO: He asks the hostess or receptionist if the business is hiring and asks for a job application. Once that person is distracted, Glasby steals a wallet or purse, according to police. Investigators say Glasby uses the victims' credit cards to buy Visa gift cards.

Glasby is about 6' tall and always carries a backpack, according to San Diego Crime Stoppers. The organization released the above photo of Glasby and is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to Glasby's arrest. Call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 for more information.

Christopher Glasby, 34, is accused in a string of thefts in the Gaslamp, according to San Diego police.
