An unusual rescue in Lakeside Thursday morning, when firefighters responded to a call about a seven-year-old boy who got his head stuck in a storm drain!

The poor kid was apparently trying to retrieve a toy that had fallen into the drain, when he became stuck, according to the El Cajon Fire Department. It happened around 10:35 a.m. in the 10000 block of Big Cone Court.

Both Lakeside Fire Department and El Cajon Fire and Rescue responded to the call. It took nearly an hour to get free the child; they had to use the "Jaws of Life" to break apart the concrete and steel drain structure, said police.

Once the child was freed, he was examined and was found to have no injuries. No word on whether the toy was ever retrieved.
