Friends Celebrate Life, But Want Answers About Murder
No Motive or Suspect in Carlsbad Man's Murder

It was not a typical memorial service.
There were colorful clothes, a few glow sticks, and more smiles than tears. Family and friends of Kenney Gram said that's how he would've wanted it.
"My brother was a really fun loving spirit," said his sister Danielle. "What we're celebrating tonight is how he liked to bring the best out in people."
The 22-year-old was a graduate of Carlsbad High School, and more recently UC Santa Cruz. Gram was on a tour of the East Coast with friends when he got separated from the group on Nov. 17.
Police found Gram's body the next morning, stabbed to death.
Detectives still have no motive for the murder. They said Gram's wallet was still on him and do not believe it was robbery. Police also said they do not believe drugs were involved.
Friends said Gram's death is ironic because he was a peace advocate. He volunteered for the group his sister co-founded, Kids for Peace.
At Moonlight beach Friday night, friends and family stood around a bonfire laughing and remembering Gram. They said they hope his death helps spread his message of peace. His sister said he used to come to that beach with friends, and she knows this is the way he would want people to remember him.
"H was known as a comedian," she said, "and we're really hoping he'll be watching down on us and just laughing."
