White was found not guilty Monday on both criminal charges he faced.

The San Diego police officer who was cleared of criminal charges this week in connection with a case in which a woman and her young son were shot broke his media silence on Wednesday.

White shot Rachel Silva and her young son last year in an Oceanside parking lot. On Monday, he was found not guilty of a pair of weapons charges.

On Wednesday morning, White was a guest on the Rick Roberts Show on KFMB radio. At the beginning of the interview, Roberts asked White how he was feeling.

"I'm not sure if it hasn't sunk in yet or what, but I still feel, you know, it's been a really long road," White said. "I just want to get my life back to normal so I can support my family and quit being the center of attention. It's not something I like too much."

Roberts also spoke to White about his future with the San Diego Police Department. On Tuesday, Chief Bill Lansdowne said the officer would be returning to duty next Monday.

"I think this was on some of the news channels last night before I even knew it," White said. "I am starting work -- back to full duty -- this week."

White spoke about how he has been affected by the incident.

"I don't think it's really changed who I am," said White, who then added: "I can tell you there was a time -- I've always been a kind of mellow guy, I've never been an angry person -- there was a time after this incident that I spent a couple of months where I was actually kind of bitter and angry afterward, and that's not me, and I got to the point where I started praying to have that, you know, go away, and I got to the point where I did start praying for the people who I was angry at."

Roberts asked White if he would do anything different if he could do it over again.

"I have to say, knowing the facts I knew, I did what I felt I had to do," White said. "I mean, if I knew, I would have gone to the grocery store five minutes later or five minutes earlier."

White's troubles relating to the shooting are not yet over. Two civil lawsuits stemming from the shooting are still moving forward: Silva has filed suit against White, the city of San Diego and the San Diego Police Department, and a lawsuit has also been filed on behalf of her son.
