The parents of a 14-year-old high school student are pleading with the public for help finding their missing daughter.

Carrie Bess McGonigle and her husband, Maurice Dubois, spent the weekend posting nearly 2,000 of Amber Dubois throughout Escondido.

"No one has seen her," Carrie said. "It's like she vanished."

"It hurts a lot," said the teen's father,  Maurice Dubois. "I love my little girl to death. She's my baby and I want her home."

Amber was last seen just after 7 a.m. on Friday about a block from Escondido High school. The girl's parents said she was especially excited to get to school to exchange Valentine's Day gifts with friends. She also couldn't wait to pay for her baby lamb through the school's Future Farmer's of America program.

Amber is described as a shy girl who loves reading and science. Her best friend, Jade Fidel, said Amber would never run away.

"She's a nerd," Jade said. "She loves school. She loves her parents. She loves being at home. She would never do that."

Jade said she received text messages from Amber on Friday before school.

"No MySpace, no Facebook -- she likes to draw and read and take care of animals," Carrie said.

The high school has surveillance cameras throughout the campus, but it's unclear if police have reviewed them.

The teen's cell phone was activated for a few seconds Saturday afternoon, but other than that, her parents said, it has been off since she disappeared.

Police are also asking for the community's help but said they were checking into reports that the teen was spotted in downtown Escondido Saturday evening.

Anyone with information about Amber is asked to call Escondido police at 760-839-4722.
